Salvia officinalis – belongs to a genus of some 448 species which are hardy evergreen sub-shrubs which are native to southern Europe.
The oil is extracted from sage leaves through the process of steam distillation.
There are many benefits associated with this Essential Oil. However, there are also quite a few warnings, PLEASE pay attention to them as they are listed later in this article.
One of the better-known benefits – Sage oil is often found in cosmetics, due to its ability to lighten scars and age spots. Mixed with a carrier oil you can use sage oil on your skin to help lighten unwanted scars and other marks.
For Spring Cleaning –
This essential oil works as a natural disinfectant, thanks to its anti-fungal, antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. So, you can use this oil around your home in your natural cleaning solutions.
The herb gets its name from the Latin word “salvere” which means “to save” and is known for its therapeutic properties.
Ancient Romans and Greeks considered it sacred. According to historical accounts, sage oil was considered good for both the mind and the body.
It is mentally stimulating, so it can help with feelings of despair and mental fatigue.
Sage essential oil has been used for many different applications from aromatherapy, to bathing, to cooking, to medicine, to spiritual practices!
