I was surprised by this book.

I purchased it during this past spring and I have only referred to it a few times.  However, it has surpassed my expectations.  I tend to prefer books that are a little bit more fun to read and this book is very instructional, I guess that is more needed in the basics.

While it contains many recipes and a lot of information, it is a basic to mid-level book on Aromatherapy.

It would be good for a beginner and as it is titled “an intro”.

However,  I must say that in Aromatherapy training it does advise practices that I would not recommend.

Grapefruit essential oil is cold pressed from the peels.

Known to grow great in California!

Grapefruit Essential Oil

An interesting fact is that grapefruit is actually a hybrid between Citrus maxima and Citrus sinensis.

Its fragrance is clean, refreshing and uplifting.

Some properties of this EO:  an antiseptic, disinfectant, antidepressant, diuretic, and detoxifying.

Grapefruit is a wonderful oil to use while doing yoga and meditation. 

The psychological benefits of this essential oil are that it is an anti-depressant. Grapefruit is also emotionally uplifting.

It helps lighten your mood and is also a great stress buster.

Lavender!!!  I love Lavender essential oil!

It is one of my top five favorite oils.

This EO is so versatile and blends very well with other oils.

A wonderful oil for so many things, but it really is known to have great results when used on your skin and when diffusing it.  Very gentle, and most people, young and old and in between, like it.

The Heart of Aromatherapy

The Heart of Aromatherapy

This is a big book, about 275 pages, and it offers so much! 

I love this author, when it comes to aromatherapy, she is one of the top best in her field, in my opinion.  She explains aromatherapy so well!

This book is easy to read and very informative.  It’s definitely not just a recipe book!

She starts the book off with the story of her love of the lavender fields in France.  Then she begins to cover some important basics about aromatherapy.

   QUOTE from the book,                                                             

“Many essential oils have components that are known to offer a deep sense of relaxation.  For example, one of the main components in lavender essential oil is linalool (also spelled “linalol”). A lot of research has been done showing that linalol has profound effects on the nervous system and can help people relax.”

So much more than recipes!

Andrea discusses the effects that essential oils can have on your body, and how they affect you mentally as well as emotionally.
