In March we are featuring oils to use in Spring cleaning, or anytime cleaning ūüôā This article features Tea Tree Essential Oil!

Tea Tree

(Melaleuca alternifolia)

There are roughly 250 species of Tea Tree,

Tea Tree for Spring

which is native to Southeast Queensland and the Northeast coast of New South Wales, Australia.

It is steam distilled from leaves.

Application:

Use topically with a carrier oil or diffuse.  Safe for use on children diluted for topical use.

Influence: 

Promotes cleansing and purity

  • anti-fungal
  • antiviral
  • antiparasitic
  • antiseptic
  • anti-inflammatory
  • immunostimulant

Some traditional uses:

This oil is highly regarded as an antimicrobial and antiseptic essential oil. IT HAS HIGH LEVELS OF TERPINEOL, which is the key active constituent.

Tea tree essential oil has been known to help Athletes foot, fungal infections, bronchitis, respiratory infections, sunburn, Candida, Cold sores, and promotes wound healing, just to mention a few.

Caution:

There is the possibility of skin sensitivity. Keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant or nursing, consult your doctor before using. Avoid using with eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas.

FUN FACT:  

Bungwalbin creek in Australia is surrounded by Tea Trees and is held sacred by the Aborigines.¬† As the sticky tea tree oil leaves fell into the creek, they created waters that the natives still consider¬†“magical waters” today.


When using Tea Tree Essential Oil I always dilute with coconut oil or jojoba oil for topical use.

Personally, I have used tea tree essential oil in a variety of items for myself, my family and my home!

    • spray counter cleaner
    • floor cleaner
    • hand sanitizer
    • lotion
    • foot care
    • diffused in a blend
