In March we are featuring oils to use in Spring cleaning, or anytime cleaning 🙂 This article features Lemon Essential Oil!

One of the MOST recognized essentials oils in the world!
It is kid safe!
Hailing from Italy, it has been used for centuries!
Lemon essential oil is refreshing, energizing and uplifting. It is also invigorating to the senses and wonderful to smell.
And, great for the immune system!
This oil is also widely used in household cleaning blends.
Lemon essential oil is said to be:
- anti-infectious
- disinfectant
- antibacterial
- antiseptic
- antiviral
It also promotes clarity of thought and purpose.
Studies on Essential Oils have been extensive. When I checked today there were 782 Results for Essential Oils. Many of these were with a combination of another citrus as well, but one thing is for sure, the idea that Essential Oils are not “tested” is untrue.
Lemon and lemon essential oil are also used to decrease cholesterol deposition in the blood vessels and prevent heart disease!
One study showed – Lemon oil had the strongest anti-stress effect, and these results suggest that it possesses anxiolytic, antidepressant-like effects –

Lemon Essential Oil can be Cold pressed or Steam distilled – check your labels to know which one you are getting!
WARNING: Lemon essential oil that has been cold pressed can cause photo-sensitivity. To help avoid this maximum dilution of 2 percent for topical applications is recommended unless you won’t be exposing your skin to sunlight for 3 days. However, if it was steam distilled, it is not phototoxic, making it better to use in body care products.

If you decide to get any Essential Oils, Lemon is one of the most “essential” to have on hand. With the many “medicinal” effects – there are also a ton of ways to use it!- Laundry, teeth-whitener, and disinfectant in your natural cleaning blends!
Super Easy Cleaner:
All-Purpose Cleaner
Needed – Spray Bottle, White Vinegar, water, and Lemon Essential Oil!!
In the spray bottle mix: ¼ cup white vinegar, 1 ½ cups water, and 25 drops lemon essential oil
When using the cleaner, shake to combine, spray on surface, and wipe clean
